With the holidays around the corner, western Queens neighborhoods such as Sunnyside and Long Island City have celebrated with bright lights and warm times. SKILLMAN AVENUE LIGHTING CEREMONY Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce, Skillman Avenue Project and families celebrated the holidays at the 5th Annual Skillman Avenue Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 3. The annual celebration brought together residents, to kick-off the holiday season by lighting festive lights along Skillman Avenue. Carolers from P.S. 150 sang classic holiday tunes while the crowd enjoyed hot cocoa and apple cider. During the celebration, the Skillman Avenue Project also launched their annual Toys for Tots campaign. LIC HOLIDAY LIGHTING On Dec. 4, Van Bramer, the LIC Partnership, JetBlue, LIC Business Women, and LIC Bar presented this year’s lighting ceremony at the LIC Bar at 45-58 Vernon Blvd. The ceremony featured storytelling, caroling from the chorus of P.S. 78 and hot holiday drinks.
