New Business BY ANGELA MATUA DELICIOUS DISHES A new restaurant offering fast-casual Indian food opened in Astoria this week. Tikka Roll House, located at 34-14 30th Ave., is headed by Executive Chef Muhammad Kabir Mia who was born and raised in Bangladesh. Specials include kati rolls, skewer-roasted kebabs wrapped in paratha bread and large curry bowls with a choice of meat, poultry, fish or vegetables, white rice and salad. On the menu dishes include the Nizami Roll, a classic Kolkate street roll, the Bhuna Gobi Roll and Malai Murag Roll, the Vegan Rajma Curry Bowl, featuring spiced kidney beans in the chef’s own spices, the Kadai Chicken, tossed with bell pepper and onion in special spices, the Jhinga Bhuna Mirchwala, with spiced shrimp and green chilies, and slow cooked goat Briyani in traditional spices. Mia first started his career as a chef for Biman Bangladesh Airlines. He moved to the United States in 2008 where he worked at popular Indian restaurants such as Beluchi and Tandoori. He is also the executive chef at Tikka Indian Grill in Williamsburg. Tikka Indian Grill and Tikka Roll House are both owned by Syed Hossain. The restaurant is decked out in Bollywood movie posters, hardwood tables, leather upholstered chairs and a raised wood bar in the back. Prices range from $4 for a small plate to $14 for a curry bowl, making it a very affordable option for lunch or dinner. Tikka Roll House is open from noon to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
