Though the temperature is dropping, things are still heating up in Long Island City, Astoria and Sunnyside. This issue is packed with real estate updates, including several mixed-use buildings planned for Astoria and a number of tenants moving into the Falchi Building in Long Island City. Learn more about a duo that is trying to bring farm-fresh produce, diary and meat to Long Island City residents at Good Neighbor Queens. Several local artists are also attempting to beautify your neighborhoods. A local nonprofit recently decorated a graffiti-heavy underpass with some of Astoria’s iconic landmarks and a famous Canadian artist just moved into town. Long Island City will also receive a new public art piece titled “The Sunbather.” Read about a veteran jazz bassist in Long Island City who just released his debut album and a collection of dancers hoping to present a jam-packed show to Astoria residents. As always, LIC Magazine is filled with exciting events happening in your neighborhood including art installations, comedy shows, movie screenings and a delicious Pumpkin Gnocchi recipe that is great for the upcoming season. I am always looking for more stories that showcase the people and places in Long Island City, Astoria and Sunnyside so feel free to reach out to me at amatua@queenscourier. com.
