■SUNNYSIDE SHINES Small Business Saturday in Sunnyside Sunnyside, Queens will celebrate Small Business Saturday on November 28 with a kick-off event in Bliss Plaza, and the official release of the neighborhood’s second annual #SunnysideGiftGuide. The holiday gift guide, produced by Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District, features holiday gift ideas from 21 local Sunnyside stores. The #SunnysideGiftGuide is a full-color, oversized postcard featuring holiday gift ideas from 21 Sunnyside stores. Residents of zip codes 11104 and 11377 will get a sneak preview when the postcard lands in their mailboxes during the week of Nov. 9th. The remaining guides will be distributed at the Small Business Saturday event and in local businesses. Neighborhood shoppers can get in on the action by posting on social media their holiday finds with the hashtag #SunnysideGiftGuide, and @SunnysideShines will re-post their favorites. Sunnyside Shines will highlight each individual gift item from the printed #SunnysideGiftGuide on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so that followers can get the scoop on the perfect presents. The Sunnyside Holiday Lighting Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 23rd at 6pm in front of Bing’s Hallmark at 45-15 Greenpoint Avenue. The Fezziwigs, a trio of Dickensian carolers, will stroll up and down the street to start the ceremony, and they’ll be followed by diminutive dancers from the McManus School of Irish Dance. Little ones can whisper their holiday wishes into the ear of Santa Claus, who will be waiting inside the store for photos. Staff from Sunnyside Shines will distribute copies of the #SunnysideGiftGuide. The Small Business Saturday celebration on November 28 features free giveaways for attendees, including the holiday gift guide and Small Business Saturday-branded bags, while supplies last.
