The exhibition features the history of cats online looking at cat videos, celebrity cats, and more. SOCRATES SCULPTURE PARK 31-01 Vernon Blvd. | 718-956-1819 “Broadway Billboard: Degas Horses” On view through August 30 Internationally acclaimed photographer Vera Lutter is known for creating ghostly images, taken using a “camera obscura,” of various subjects such as urban centers, abandoned factories, ancient monuments, and natural forests. This exhibition features images of Edgar Degas’ 19th century cast horse sculptures found at The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Located at the main entrance of the park, “Degas Horses” is part of Socrates Sculpture Park’s Broadway Billboard series, courtesy of the Artist and Gagosian Gallery. RESOBOX, Inc. 41-26 27th St. | 718-784-3680 “I’m Yellow Exhibition” On view from Aug. 19 through Sept. 10 Opening Reception and Live Painting: Aug. 19 @ 7PM RESOBOX Gallery will turn completely yellow during this exhibition. Peelander-Yellow, who was born in Hyogo, Japan, will paint murals featuring the color yellow on RESOBOX’s walls, tables, chairs, and even the ceiling. During the opening reception, Yellow will do a live painting of an original piece. There will be small canvases, drum heads, yellow patches, and t-shirts with original works on sale during this exhibit. Peelander-Yellow is also part of a music group known as Peelander-Z, who have had over a thousand shows in the United States and 10 album releases. MoMA PS1 22-25 Jackson Ave.| 718-784-2084 “Simon Denny: The Innovator’s Dilemma” On view through Sept. 7 MoMA PS1 presents the first U.S. museum solo show of Berlin-based artist Simon Denny. The artist’s work often refers to the psychology and abstract language of the new media economy, invoking “clouds” of big data and the constant pressure to “update” our lives. “The Innovator’s Dilemma” is organized by Peter Eleey, Curator and Associate Director of Exhibitons and Programs, MoMA PS1, with Jocelyn Miller, Curatorial Assistant, MoMA PS1.
