The Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford including films such as “Young Mr. Lincoln,” “My Darling Clementine,” “The Searchers,” and “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.” All screenings take place in the Sumner M. SOCRATES SCULPTURE PARK 31-01 Vernon Blvd. | 718-956-1819 “The Living Pyramid” On view through Aug. 30 New York City-based artist Agnes Denes, adds life to the city’s skyline with a curving pyramid on the park’s LIC waterfront called “The Living Pyramid.” Denes’s new large-scale, site-specific earthwork – created from several tons of soil and planted grasses – spans 30 feet at its four-sided base and ascends 30 feet high. This exhibit is commissioned by Socrates Sculpture Park and is Denes’ first major public artwork in New York City in three decades since her urban intervention, “Wheatfield – A Confrontation in 1982.” RESOBOX, Inc. 41-26 27th St. | 718-784-3680 “Gold Box Exhibition” On view through July 29 This exhibition features work from Japanese artist Mayuko Okada, who bases her work on traditional training and on her observation of the spectacle of Japanese life. After finding almost a thousand beautiful antique kimonos in her grandparents’ old warehouse she decided instead of throwing them away, to create artwork. “This show is Mayuko’s gift to the world, inspired by the world she sees around her in New York,” according to a description on the RESOBOX website. MoMA PS1 22-25 Jackson Ave.| 718-784-2084 “Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys: Fine Arts” On view through Aug. 31 In this exhibition, Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys bring together nine-foot fifteen steel sculptures, eighty-five watercolors, and a few videos. Through their works, the artists create tragic, comic, and silent portraits of the human condition. Jos de Gruyter and Harald Thys, who live and work in Brussels, have collaborated since the late 1980s and had various solo exhibitions throughout the world. JULY15
