MAY 2013 I LIC COURIER I www.queenscourier.com LIC Courier has a new look... We are happy to bring you the new format and design of the LIC Courier. As the communities we serve adapt and grow we felt it was time for us to do so as well. The new magazine format will provide higher and more consistent color quality to make it easier to read and more attractive to the touch. You will continue to find the local content and features you are accustomed to -- Just in an updated design. As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas. With the warm weather now here, Long Island City has so many exciting events and activities planned for the months to come, including the Taste of LIC and the brand new LIC Flea & Food, to name a few. LIC Flea & Food kicks off June 15 and will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October at an outdoor lot on the corner of 5th Street and 46th Avenue. It is free to the public and vendors can still apply to sell at the market through the LIC Flea website, www. licflea.com. In this issue we took a look into a young Long Island City entrepreneur starting up his own beverage business by handcrafting one-of-akind cocktail mixers. We dove into a brand new Astoria restaurant opened up by a famed and talented chef and got a sneak preview of this summer’s MoMa PS1 Warmup. Along with these highlights, we welcome a new columnist that will provide beauty tips on a monthly basis, a look into fashion trends to take to the beach, a photographer looking to snap shots of the tiny planet of LIC and an update on the tech community in the area. As you can see, LIC is burgeoning and we plan on keeping up with all the festivities, new businesses, innovative ideas and booming community. Enjoy the warm weather and continue to explore LIC because there is always something new popping up on the next block, or even right next door.
