BY HELENE OELERICH Alley Pond Sports Bar & Grill, part of the Alley Pond Golf Center in Douglaston, has a beautiful porch and patio where you can enjoy brunch on weekends and lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Sundays. You can also enjoy craft beers and signature drinks while listening to live music or taking in a game on one of their 23 HDTV’s at the large, comfortable bar. There is also an inside dining room. Chef Marcos is an experienced four-star chef, and there are many diverse choices of food on the extensive menu, which also has a special children’s section. There are many different varieties of food: appetizers and soups, salads, burgers, pastas, sandwiches as well as specially-made dishes. The prices are reasonable and the house-made sangria (white or red) is excellent at $6 per glass. Alley Pond Sports Bar & Grill is located at 232- 01 Northern Blvd. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 12pm-12am; Friday, 12pm-2am; Saturday, 11am- 2am and Sunday, 11am-12am. Reservations are recommended. Because of rain, the Le Havre poolside party that was originally scheduled for July 30 had to be moved to August 6, which turned out to be an especially humid New York night. That’s probably all the more reason why folks didn’t want to cook and opted to go down to the pool to relax and enjoy a good old-fashioned barbeque. The spread was sponsored by Logan’s Café and included burgers and dogs, buns and sides. And because Le Havre knows how to party, music was provided by DJ Outlaw. It was definitely a very cool way to spend a hot August night!
