Cryder Point Gives Thanks
by Giving Again
WWW.QNS.COM | DECEMBER 2018 | CRYDER POINT COURIER 7
Last year’s first Thanksgiving Food Drive was so successful,
Cryder Point Community Affairs decided to do it
again, and our community certainly came together Cryder
Point strong!
For the second year, the drive supplied the local pantries
at Grace Episcopal Church in Whitestone and St. Fidelis in
College Point. The generous donations from our residents
totaled 18 boxes filled with food that were collected and
delivered the week before Thanksgiving, right on time to
fill holiday tables.
No surprise, it was an impressive array of goodies that
included 41 pounds of pasta; tons of tomato sauce; hundreds
of canned goods; over 40 pounds of rice, stuffing
and cranberry sauce; and several dozens of other items.
Volunteers from Cryder Point Community Affairs and
many residents got together in the 01 Community Room
to pack up the donations, and our staff once again took
care of the deliveries.
A special thank you goes to Carmela and Joseph Leonardi,
who started the initiative last year, for organizing this
year’s effort. Thanks also go to our packers: Janet and Brian
Murphy, CeCe Schob, Dorene Finnegan and Nicole Cicero.
To complete the list of thanks, our appreciation goes
out to Bill, Andre and Arnold from our extraordinary crew
for the smooth delivery of the boxes to the pantries.
Cryder Point’s Thanksgiving Food Drive is well on its
way to becoming an annual community effort, one in
which we can all be proud. Thank you, Cryder Point!
