C R Y D E R P O I N T DECember 7 Regina Cardaci Regina is a native of Queens and lived in nearby North Flushing for the past 20 years. Like many people, though, she had never heard of Cryder Point until she happened to meet some residents who raved about the place. But she wasn’t so sure she wanted to stay in Queens. She explained, “I spent months looking in Westchester County.  None of the apartments I saw had everything… large rooms, parking, pool, concierge...one Sunday, after coming off the bridge after looking at an apartment in Westchester, I decided to check out Cryder again.  I saw an ad for an open house, and fell in love with th e apartment and the location.”   Regina is a Nurse-Midwife/Nurse Practitioner and currently works at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where she also teaches in a Nurse Practitioner program. “When not working, I enjoy exercising, and am thrilled with the new gym, Life Health Fitness, that opened nearby.  I also enjoy biking and running.  Travel is also a passion; I only wish I had the time (countdown to retirement!).” Regina’s daughter, Mia Polizzotto, is a senior at York College in Pennsylvania, where she is a dual major studying International Relations and Spanish.  Proud Mom Regina says, “She also has a passion for humanitarian work, and upon gr aduation would love to find a position that combines philanthropy, culture and language.” As for their new lives here, Regina sums up, “We have met many lovely people here at Cryder, and hope to meet more. We are happy to be part of this community.” www.qNS.com | DECember 2015 | CRYDER POINT Courier 7 Keepthe Faith! The fact that Cryder Point has been a construction zone for the past three years makes the sales boom here even more surprising. Between scaffolding blocking balconies, cranes covering the riverfront, a dock that looks like a wreck and temporary parking plopped in the middle of the grounds, newcomers have really had to use their imaginations—and have a lot of faith—to envision what the place will look like when all of the work is finally finished. Plans for the grounds restoration are in development and will be the next big initiative once all of the nasty equipment is gone and the weather permits planting. The goal is not only to restore Cryder Point to its former beauty but to make it even better. In the meantime, here are a handful of photos submitted by residents for the Photo Contest that was held in 2014, most of which were taken before these projects began. Many of these and more are on display in the 01 Community room, so if you need a shot of hope and inspiration, go have a look. They serve as a good hint to what our community can look like. After all of this mess, I think we can all use a reminder of what this very special corner of the planet is about. – Jill Davis Mia Polizzotto Regina Cardaci
