C R Y D E R P O I N T 12DECEMBER Whitestone Village Celebrates New Holiday Lights 12 CRYDER POINT COURIER | DECEMBER 2015 | WWW.QNS.COM On Friday, December 4th 2015, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Councilman Paul Vallone, the Whitestone Village Merchants Association, and We Love Whitestone, inaugurated the holiday shopping season in Whitestone Village with a ceremony commemorating the holiday lights that will illuminate the business corridor. This past year, Councilman Paul Vallone and the Queens Chamber of Commerce have been working with merchants in the business corridor around 150th Street in Whitestone Village to form the Whitestone Village Merchants Association. This holiday season, the businesses within the corridor, with support from Councilman Vallone and the Chamber, were able to hang holiday lights to attract residents to shop in Whitestone. In addition to the Christmas tree, the crowd was also entertained by the Landrum School of Performing Arts. Small businesses are a large part of Queens, and we are grateful to have the ability to help them and the Whitestone community celebrate the holidays» said Thomas J. Grech, Executive Director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “The holiday lights will help to let residents know that Whitestone is open for business and all their shopping needs can be done locally. I would like to thank Councilman Paul Vallone and the Whitestone Village Merchants Association for supporting these efforts.” “I’m proud to sponsor the return of the Holiday lights in the Whitestone Village as we all gather in celebration and anticipation of the holiday season,” said Council Member Paul Vallone. “The holidays have a special ability to unite a community and this collaborative effort is truly what made this event possible.
