July 7 C R Y D E R P O I N T Tony’s still on duty for a little while. Stop by the 01 Building to wish him well! Tony Sr. with (l-r): Daughter Laura, wife Mary and son Tony Jr. www.qNS.com | July 2016 | CRYDER POINT Courier 7 Tony Sr. (before Cryder Point turned his hair gray!) So he came to Cryder Point when he moved back to Queens, right? Wrong. He worked in security at Pepsi and stocked shelves at the Dollar Store. “I was building up some good muscles with that job,” Tony laughed. He had previously applied for a concierge job here at Cryder but didn’t hear back for a whole year, but then he finally got the call that there was an opening. I asked about changes he’s observed at Cryder Point over the years. “It’s younger than it used to be. There are more young kids, which is good.” Tony might be tired of working, but it doesn’t sound like he’s all that tired of Cryder Point. “I love this job,” he said, “and Bill’s a good boss. He’s professional.” And for everyone who’s worried that we’ll never see Tony again, have no fear. He’s agreed to fill in when other concierges are out. He grinned, “I told Bill, just don’t call me in July or August. But sure, why not, I’m only a few minutes away. It’ll be nice.” Yes indeed, it will be nice, especially for us. Knowing that Tony will be popping in every so often helps take some of the sting out of his leaving. So we won’t say goodbye to Tony--we’ll just say “So long.” Tony and family celebrate his birthday (we won’t ask which one!) Grandpa and Grandson out for a stroll
