2018 Board
of Directors Election
FIVE CANDIDATES FOR FIVE SEATS: YES, YOUR VOTE MATTERS!
As most of you know, although it’s
worth repeating, we must reach
a quorum in order for there to
be an election. A quorum is achieved
when at least 51% of total shares in the
cooperative are submitted. We achieved a
quorum of 56% last year, and we are hoping
to have at least that level of participation
this year.
All five incumbent Board members
whose current terms are up have decided
to run again. In alphabetical order,
they are: Eileen Annechino, Jill Davis,
Louis Garcia, Phil Resnick
and Kostas Sfelionitis.
There are no other
candidates this year.
You’re saying to yourself,
“Why bother to vote?
It’s the same people.” Good
question, but there is a key reason
why your vote matters:
Cryder Point has a 9 member Board,
and it’s structured so that the terms are
staggered, meaning that five seats are
open one year and four seats are open
the next. Each member serves a two-year
term, which creates continuity and stability
on the Board over the long haul.
However, if there is no quorum and
therefore no election, the current board
stays as it is for the coming year only—
next year, all 9 Board seats would be
open, so we’d basically be starting from
scratch. All 9 Board members would be
required to run again (if they chose to do
so). The length of each member’s term
would not automatically be for two years;
instead, term lengths would be
decided by how many votes
each person received, with
those receiving the fewest
votes serving only one
year. We would lose our
staggered system until
we achieved a quorum
in a future year, and we
never know when that
might happen.
Many of you will

remember we had no quorum in 2014 or
2015, and a lot of residents weren’t happy
about it. Yes, things remained pretty
much status quo, but you wanted to actively
elect your Board and you wanted
the staggered system to continue. We
finally reached a quorum in 2016, and
it wasn’t until last year that we were
able to return to a normal staggered
cycle.
Sound complicated? Yes it is…and
it’s also a fair system, but one that
can only be fully realized if our
shareholders participate.
So please be sure to attend the Annual
Shareholders’ Meeting on Thursday, June
21, 7pm at the Bay Terrace Jewish Center.
If you cannot attend in person, please complete
your proxy and have someone submit
it for you, and encourage your neighbors to
do so as well. Your vote matters!
Following are reprints of each candidate’s
resume along with a photo so that
you can put a face to the name. These resumes
are necessarily brief, but we hope
they give you an idea of what each candidate’s
goals and perspectives are.

Please explain why you are seeking
election to the Board of Directors.
Having served on the Board for the last
2+ years I believe I can still contribute
in a meaningful, positive way for Cryder
Point shareholders.
Please list any interests, talent, education
or experience you possess that
you feel would serve as an asset to the
Cryder Point Owners’ Corp. Board of
Directors.
I have 40 years business experience
with a Masters Degree in Organizational
Leadership. My experience includes
program development, contract
procurement and negotiation, and consumer
related activities. I have always
been an active volunteer and enjoy doing
the same in our community.
What changes would you like to see
made at Cryder Point, and why?
I currently work with a fluid team of
Cryder Point shareholders on the Quality
of Life Committee. Over the last
three years the team has organized and
delivered food and warm coats to community
based organizations, sponsored
beach clean-ups and social activities for
the entire community. As the Board liaison
I would like to continue this work
with shareholders enriching our community.
