Dining Diva
Riviera Ristorante
BY HELENE OELERICH
Riviera Ristorante in Whitestone has been at the
same location since the 1960s. This local classic specializes
in delicious authentic Italian food from both
the northern and southern regions. Riviera has a nice
atmosphere for dining and partying or for couples,
families, and friends to get together for a relaxing
dinner. Manager Danny and our server, George, were
extremely helpful!
The menu is large—and so are the dishes! They
serve many different kinds of pastas, appetizers, salads
and soups as well as chicken, veal and fish entrees and
specialties of the day. All main courses are served with
vegetables and roasted potatoes (so good!). There is
also a tempting dessert menu.
I enjoyed the Capellini di Mare, which is angel hair
pasta served with shrimp, clams, calamari and mussels
in a red sauce. Phil loved the Pollo Scarpatiello: pieces
of chicken on the bone with garlic, balsamic vinegar,
olive oil, roasted peppers and fresh herbs. Our appetizer
of baked clams was yummy too!
Riviera Ristorante is located at 17-12 Utopia
Parkway. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday (closed
Mondays). Lunch is served Tuesday through Friday,
12pm-3pm, and there’s an early bird menu offered
Tuesday through Thursday, 4pm-6pm. Street parking
is available (read the signs!). Telephone 767-352-2235
or visit rivieraristorante.com for more information.
Enjoy!

Congratulations to this month’s winner, Marsha
Gellert, for her lovely, light-filled evening
photo of the Throgs Neck Bridge.
The rest of this edition of Photo of the Month
is dedicated to our fine feathered friends. I never
take pictures for this column but I couldn’t help
myself when I saw about 30 geese loitering in
the 21/41 courtyard one afternoon at the end of
January. And Joe Hollander and Marsha Gellert
each provided their own independent evidence
of New Year’s intruders. If this is what it’s like already,
it’s going to be an interesting spring and
summer!
Whether you catch a particularly pretty picture
from the property or happen to spot some avian
invaders, please submit your photos to share with
the community. Come on, give it a shot!
A reminder about the contest rules:
The photographer must be a resident of Cryder
Point, and all photos must of the property or
of a view from the property. They also must be

months before you submit them.
Any description of where you were on the
property, the day of week or time of day…any
details that you can provide which bring your
neighbors into the moment of the photo…are
eagerly welcomed.
Submit your pictures to jdavis@qns.com and
yours might be selected to be featured in the
paper. Please be sure to put “Cryder Point Photo”
