Dr. Cascya Charlot
Dr. Cascya Charlot is board certified
in Pediatric and Adult
Allergy and Immunology and
Internal Medicine. A graduate of Harvard
Medical School who went on
to complete a residency in Internal
Medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital
in New York City and a fellowship
in Allergy and Immunology at SUNY
Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn,
NY. She is fluent in Haitian Creole,
French and Spanish.
Dr. Charlot has held numerous
leadership roles and has made significant
contributions to the field of
medicine. From 2000 to 2001, she was
hired by the United Nations as a medical
consultant and stationed in Africa
where she advised on HIV/AIDS issues.
She was awarded the NYC Department
of Health Certificate of Excellence in
1999 for her work on welfare reform.
She currently lends her expertise as an
Allergy and Asthma specialist for NYC
Department of Education’s Project
E.R.A.S.E. (Eradicating Respiratory
Asthma in Schools to help children
Excel) targeting the growing asthma
crisis in NYC public schools.
She lectures regularly on a number
of allergic conditions including food
allergies, immunotherapy and asthma.
She also directed the Asthma Screening
program for the American College
of Allergy Asthma and Immunology in
Brooklyn for 3 consecutive years.
Dr. Charlot, now serves as the chief
of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
at Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn. She
is the founder of the Allergy and Asthma
Care of Brooklyn Clinic where she
evaluates adult and pediatric patients.
She is a yearly Patient’s Choice Awardee.
She has been featured in the
Daily News, on the Martha Stewart
Show .
Furthering her love for allergy and
immunology, she founded; Love That
Peanut! a new supplement for infants
and young children which combines
organic peanut flour and probiotics to
facilitate early peanut introduction.
Guyanese-born Dr. Candace
Cummings is a board-certified
physician in the field of Internal
Medicine and currently serves as a
clinical assistant professor of medicine
and hospitalist at Stony Brook-Southampton
Hospital, a Clinical Assistant
Professor of Medicine at NYIT College
of Osteopathic Medicine and is a
member of The Leading Physicians of
the World.
In spite of her many professional
and personal demands, she continues
to be generous with her time and is
currently an active participant and
member of Raphael Ministry, a nonprofit
charitable organization that
provides free healthcare to the people
of Zambia annually. Dr. Cummings
joined Raphael Ministry in 2008.
In 2014, the organization decided to
expand its global outreach and began
plans to branch out to other nations,
beginning with Guyana in 2014. Dr.
Cummings led the Guyana initiative.
In all of her achievements, Dr. Cummings
says that her biggest and proudest
remain her marriage to her “wonderful
husband, Justin,” and her role
as mom to her “three amazing children
John, Christina and Justin, Jr.”
Dr. Cummings, who works 84
hours / biweekly and has been in the
health industry for 19 years, says the
best piece of career advice she’s ever
received was to “be my authentic self
and create a strategic career plan.”
She says if she has one superpower
it would be “the power to heal incurable
diseases, as it is one of the most
crippling and disappointing experiences
to not be able to help, heal or
provide hope to a patient and his / her
family with an incurable, malignant
and / or end-stage disease.”
