BRONX TIMES REPORTER, O 18 CT. 29-NOV. 4, 2021 BTR
The Bronx was on full display in
anticipation of Sunday, Oct. 31, better
known as Halloween. With the holiday
 being celebrated more actively
than last year due to COVID, houses
all over the borough were decorated
and lit up. In particular, homes in
areas of Throggs Neck Morris Park,
 Crotona, Williamsbridge and the
South Bronx were a sight to see.
 For those history buffs, Halloween
annually falls on Oct. 31 because
of the ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain,
   considered the earliest known
root of Halloween. It marked a pivotal
time of year when seasons changed,
 but more importantly, observers also
 believed the boundary between this
world and the next became especially
thin at this time, enabling them to
connect with the dead. This is also
 where Halloween gains its “haunted”
 connotations.
Bronxites did their best to summon
 that spirit this year.
