On Saturday, September 7, teams representing neighborhoods across the city, all of whom are combating gun violence year-round in their communities using the Cure Violence methodology,
participated in the ‘Don’t Shoot Just Hoop’ Basketball Tournament in Brooklyn as a sign of unity against the growing gun violence crisis. One of the teams competing was BRAG
(Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence) representing the Bronx and Good Shepherd Services.

The Bronx State Senate delegation hosted a legislative update for the community on Thursday,
September 12 at Monroe College’s Mintz Auditorium. The event featured senators Jamaal
Bailey, Alessandra Biaggi, Gustavo Rivera, Luis Sepulveda and Jose Serrano. During
the update members from the community were able to ask questions to each senator regarding
some of the legislation passed this session.

RIDERS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCE
MTA SURVEY’S RESULTS
Riders Alliance announced on Thursday, September 12 the results of its month-long Riders
Capital Plan survey. Over 400 New Yorkers called for improvements to slow and unreliable
service fi rst, among other fi xes that would transform riders’ experience of getting around
New York.
