Mount Baseball Star Among Country’s Elite
St. Rays Celebrates Block “R” Awards Night

Mount St. Michael baseball
star Alex Santos recognized as
one of the best 80 high school
players in the country.
MLB/USA baseball honored
Alex Santos with a Jersey
and hat for their pipeline program.
Alex will participate in
the player development league
to be held this summer in
Tampa Florida at IMG Academy,
the world’s largest and
most advanced multi-sport
training and educational institution.
The league will feature
the top 80 high school
players in the country. The 80
players will be separated into
four teams of 20 and will play
against each other in Florida.
The teams will be captained
by former major league players
including Derek Jeter.
The Prospect Development
Pipeline (PDP) program is a
collaborative effort between
MLB and USA Baseball to establish
an offi cial identifi cation
and player development
pathway for amateur baseball
players in the United States.
The PDP League is the newest
joint MLB and USA Baseball
initiative. An expansion
of PDP program, the League
will consist of eighty of the top
High School prospects in the
country participating in the
most premier development experience
in the marketplace.

On Thursday, May 9, 2019,
the St. Raymond High School
for Boys’ student-athletes,
their families, coaching staff,
faculty, and administration
gathered to celebrate and acknowledge
the outstanding
achievements of the 2018-2019
athletic school year. The evening
took a moment to recognize
the achievements,
talents, and commitment towards
excellence of our student
athletes who have participated
on this year’s athletic
teams. It was also an opportunity
to witness the spirit of
our student life and the traditions
of excellence here at St.
Raymond High School. All in
attendance were also treated
to a delicious meal prepared
by Posto 22, and the Mancini
staff.
Throughout the evening,
coaches were able to recognize
all of the members on
their respective teams, give
a general overview of how
their seasons went, and even
be able to honor several of
the athletes from their teams
with special awards, such as
MVP, Most Improved, Most
Dedicated, and for Outstanding
Leadership. All athletes
received their certifi cates of
participation, with varsity
athletes receiving their varsity
letters. Over the course
of the evening, three special
awards were presented to
members of our student body.
The Brother Frank Byrne
Leadership Award was presented
to senior, Khari Taylor,
for his commitment to being
a leader amongst his peers
and a shining example in our
school community, while also
being a member of the varsity
basketball team. The School
Spirit Award, was presented
to senior, Sean Ithier, for his
unwavering commitment
to numerous clubs, athletic
teams, and student-life activities,
truly embodying the idea
of what it means to be a “Raven.”
Finally, the Ronald Patnosh
Student-Athlete of the
Year Award, was presented
to Jason Williams, who was a
four year member of the varsity
baseball team, and class
salutatorian.
