  The Woodlawn Cemetery & Conservancy
Barbara Selesky, a lifelong, third-generation resident of The Bronx, has worked at The Woodlawn
Cemetery & Conservancy for nearly two decades. She currently serves in the position of Director
of Marketing/Media Relations. As an ardent ambassador for the 400-acre National Historic
Landmark, she has worked in various positions there, from assisting families at their time of
need, to engaging in event organization, media coordination, working closely with other Bronx
partner organizations and much more. When she began at Woodlawn, she learned from the
director of historical services that there is “always a Woodlawn Connection,” and she certainly
has experienced that almost on a daily basis through the years and enjoys sharing those
 connections with others.
Before coming to Woodlawn, Barbara worked for a major trade publication, holding several
positions in advertising services, editorial and production.
Raised overlooking The Woodlawn Cemetery, (where she recalls how once her Mother pointed out
the window and exclaimed that maybe one day she would have the opportunity of working there!)
she continues to maintain residency in the Woodlawn Heights community, where she has raised
her two children, and has been involved in various community activities as a representative of
The Woodlawn Cemetery & Conservancy and through efforts that she coordinates with local civic
associations. Barbara was selected as a panelist for the CB7 Women’s Empowerment Summit,
and was also a recent recipient of the Bronx Power Women in Business Award. She currently
serves as a board member of The New Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
