the first time and they come in and there’s
lagoon lights going off and it just looks so
magical – they’re blown away that somebody
would go to all this length, but I do
it for that reason. I love that sort of reaction.”
This year they hosted 80 people, and they
plan to keep expanding upon their already
magical tradition. They’ve rented a storage
space to keep the decorations throughout
the year, although those 15-foot beams still
hang from their ceiling today.
And from there, Demerath dreams of one
day opening his own authentic Tiki bar in
New York.
“I like to shatter expectations, that’s why I
take it so seriously,” he said.
We can only hope to one day score an invite
to this party of the year.
