REAL ESTATE
Brown Harris Stevens sales agent
Jennifer Hsu has the city covered.
Last month, Jennifer joined the
exclusive club of agents who have
successfully closed a sale in each
of the city’s five boroughs. After
closing many deals in the Bronx,
Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens,
Jennifer notched her fifth borough
when the buyer she represented
purchased a home in Staten Island.
The New York City real estate
market is a vast patchwork of
dozens of local markets. Every
neighborhood is unique and each
attracts is residents with its own
charm, vibe, or features. The
local nature of New York City real
estate tends to influence the way
real estate agents operate their
businesses. Some agents focus on a
handful of buildings; many agents
stick to one or two neighborhoods.
Anyone who has worked with
Jennifer knows she is a special
agent. It’s not just that she sells all
over town – it’s her energy, drive,
and commitment to the buyers and
sellers she works for that really sets
her apart from the crowd.
I’ve been fortunate to work with
Jennifer in our Long Island City
office for almost six years. I’ve been
fortunate to work with several topquality
agents – like you, I only want to
work with good professionals. When
I thought about writing this tribute
recognizing Jennifer’s five-borough
feat, I couldn’t help but think about
how she conducts her business, which
is consistent with all the best agents I
know. So what makes a “great” agent?
Successful agents share common
traits – hard work, knowledge of the
market, skillful in communications
and negotiations. The best agents
take it further.
The best agents care about the
buyers and sellers they work
for, and they take pride in their
abilities to help their customers
and clients succeed whether
they are buying or selling. The
best agents are honest with their
buyers and sellers. It’s all too easy
to find an agent who will tell you
what you want to hear; the best
agents tell you what you need to
hear.
The best agents are always
mindful that our business is a
service business with high stakes
on the line for their customers and
clients. The best agents focus on
success, not commission checks.
The best agents know that if they
run their businesses the right way,
the money will come. What matters
most is the client.
Jennifer Hsu understands all this,
and that’s why she is one of the best
agents in New York City.
