One of my favorite things about Astoria is
that when the weather is nice, our sidewalks are
filled with people enjoying a relaxing brunch
with friends or sipping cocktails late into the
evening. It gives our neighborhood so much
energy — plus, it feels very European, non?
This is our outdoor dining issue, so if you’re
overwhelmed by all of the great al fresco
options in western Queens, here’s where to
start. We have a roundup of 15 restaurants
with great outdoor spaces (page 18). Katch is
introducing its outdoor speakeasy this month
(page 22), and Estate Garden Grill, a beer
garden and restaurant, just opened in Long
Island City (page 48). Sugar Freak reopened
at a new location, with plenty of outdoor
seating (page 30). Plus, Las Catrinas, a new

— and its outdoor seating is coming this summer (page 50).
