bands and musicians that
we think you should be
adding to your playlists.
Here are four more groups
in the local music scene you
should be looking out for—
we think their sounds are
great for listening to in your
headphones as you walk
around the sunny sidewalks
of Queens, and fun to watch
live when they perform in
their home neighborhoods!
Hollis Brown
With the lofty goal of keeping the spirit
and sound of great American music alive,
Mike Montali and Jon Bonilla of Hollis
Brown created a modern American rock
band based in Astoria. Montali (vocals and
guitar) has been involved in the Astoria
music scene since he was a kid.

“I grew up in Astoria, so I have been
playing with friends here since I first
started playing music,” Montali explained.
Montali and Bonilla (lead guitarist)
of Hollis Brown met in high school and
have been playing together ever since.
