The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In the case of the Boes family, one parent is an artist, the other a writer, both children studied at the Frank Sinatra School for the Arts, and each member collaborates on the family business—Seasoned Art. Though the family of four recently opened and subsequently closed a gallery in Astoria designed to feature their work, it hasn’t left them discouraged. Ever determined, Patricia, James, Jeanne and Devin have decided to maintain an online presence for the business. “We’re so excited to have this opportunity to sell our the Streets art in our hometown,” explains the daughter, Jeanne. “We regularly have outdoor pop-up shops in Astoria that have become well known in the neighborhood.” The family began selling art near the corner of Steinway and 30th Avenue, and the business has remained in a perpetual state of change—everything except for the collective passion for creativity. Whether watercolor or oils, pop culture icons or landscapes, the Boes express themselves uniquely through art. 10 I BOROMAG.COM I MARCH 2016 THE ARTS Hitting www. seasonedart.com
