EXPLORE YOUR BORO
By AMANDA SALAZAR
With the new year comes new goals to meet, new adventures to have and new
local businesses to patronize. BORO rounded up eight businesses that opened
their doors in the past couple months in western Queens. If you’re hoping to try
new things in 2022, here’s where to start.

For those with New Year’s resolutions to get into shape,
Performance Lab LIC might be just the spot. The lab is a fitness
center that bases its classes on “exercise science.” Performance
Lab, which opened in October 2021, offers a “multimodality
studio where you can train for strength, endurance,
mobility and recovery,” according to owner Jay Wright. There
are seven unique classes offered at the lab, including classes
called Strength Rx, Cardio Rx, Hot Yoga and Breath Rx. There’s
also a heated yoga room that’s warmed by infrared ceiling
panels. Wright said he chose Long Island City because of the
proximity to other new businesses and buildings. “Many feel
they no longer have to travel to NYC to find high-quality fitness
classes and they have everything they need in one studio,”
he told BORO. “We have gotten overwhelmingly positive
feedback and look forward to growing with LIC.”
