Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance
(BSBRA) is a volunteer non-profit organization
that began in 1958 and handles roughly 4,000
calls per year, providing efficient emergency
transportation for people in crisis situations.
BSBRA covers 25 square miles and responds to
calls at all major highways, Southside Hospital,
Bay Shore Schools, and the Bay Shore Fire
District. The fleet includes five state-certified
ambulances, three first response vehicles,
and roughly 175 members ranging from the
dispatchers to paramedics, with many of their
EMS providers certified to provide advanced life
support. BSBRA is also a staple in the Bay Shore
School District community providing “standby”
EMS services for special events and offering Bay
Shore students ages 12-18 to be a part of their
Youth Squad as an introduction to the medical
field.
