It’s amazing how fast the
school year has gone by, with
the fall semester in the books
and the spring term still to
come.
In between these periods, we hope, is a period of relaxation and
good times with friends and family back home. After the stressful
fall finals, it’s a chance to unwind a little bit and decompress before
returning to intensive study once again.
There are few ways to forget about life for a while better than taking
in a great film. With award season approaching, there are some true
gems to be found at your local theater. We’re taking a look in this issue
at some of the terrific flicks playing near you.
If movies aren’t your thing, grab a good set of earphones and isolate
yourself in a world of music. We’ll show you where to find the next great
playlist online.
The temperature may be dropping, and you might feel the need
to hibernate on particularly cold days. But just because it’s winter
doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun outside. One of the best ways
is to ice skate, and we’ll take a closer look at one of the more popular
rinks in the New York City area.
As the start of the spring semester nears, you might be thinking
about changing up your wardrobe a bit. Get a glimpse at what’s
trending among your peers before you head out to the mall, or visit an
online retailer, to shop for some new threads.
Some of you might be reflecting on the past semester, and looking
for ways to boost your grades in the spring. Finding a comfortable way
to study might be the easiest thing you can do to improve your scores,
and this issue offers ways to improve your study habits.
Winter and it’s cold weather might be here, and it’s easy for any of us
to slip into a funk around this time. But the best part of the season isn’t
very noticeable until a few weeks before it ends.
Winter’s official arrival date in New York City this year is Dec. 21. For
six months, we’ve been losing daylight, a minute or two at a time. But
as of Dec. 21, we gain back that lost daylight, minute by minute — and
the temperatures rise just a little as the season goes on.
So don’t let the winter blahs get to you. There’s plenty of ways to
enjoy the season and prepare for the spring — and keep in mind that
every passing day brings you a little closer to the warmth.
