JFK Stakeholder GM July 14
Deputy Director Aviation
and JFK Airport General Manager
Charles Everett conducted
the virtual July Stakeholders
General Meeting. He
welcomed the Port workers
back to the part-time in-office
workplace and thanked all the
essential workers at JFK for
their job well done over the
past 15 months. He reminded
that Summer brings a welcome
increased in passengers but
also the prospect off severe
weather. He made it clear that
his staff and AOC will be prepared
for these surges.
Everett and Deputy Manager
Teresa Rizzuto stressed
the importance of communication
between stakeholders and
the Airport Operations Center
(AOC) so that anticipated
events are properly planned
with recovery in mind. Rizzuto
specifically recommended that
senior staff listen in on the daily
airport operations DACC 9:30
am call for updates.
Sean Holland of the AOC
said that the AOC is a community
resource with positive outcomes.
The entity was created
after storm Grayson and it will
continue to grow with collaboration
from the community. Holland
encouraged all to keep in
touch with the AOC at 718-244-
8100, 24/7.
From the FAA Claude Viera
said JFK is now the busiest
commercial Port Authority
airport with between 900-1000
flights a day. He said that the recent
ATC evac due to rain, and
weather posed challenges but
they tackled problems successfully
with lessons learned.
CBP Acting Port Director
Robert Larkin, announced that
JFK continues to act as a single
port of entry waiver port but will
cooperate with the U.S State
Department for multiple entries
as long as they meet mandated
criteria.
Lt. Commander Sarah Meehan,
U.S, Public Health Service
updated the meeting on the restriction
of most international
dog imports. Basically there are
only a few exemptions but no
rescue nor dogs for commercial
sale allowed. These CDC details
can be found on a full story
in this issue. Dogs not meeting
the criteria must be sent back
to the country of origin by the
owner or airlines at their expense.
TSA FSD John Bambury
said that they are seeing about
60,000 passengers a day which
is about 40K less from the
height of summer travel in 2019.
He also said that TSA and the
Port have been meeting to improve
Customer Experience.
On another matter he reported
that T5 and T8 and the Port
are working with TSA for interterminal,
inter-airline ramp side
transportation since JetBlue
and American Airlines have a
partnership.
Bambury said that TSA is
still hiring and it would be helpful
if airlines can provide flight
projections so that TSA can
be appropriately staffed as the
number of lights and passengers
increase.
PAPD Deputy Inspector
Mark Magrone reported a slight
increase in crime with hustlers
and passenger disturbances
due to increased number of
passengers and criminals waking
of from the pandemic. He
said weekly taskforce meetings

these problems with addition to
increased patrols as needed.
