LaGuardia Marriott sold
The Marriot Hotel in LaGuardia
Airport in NYC was sold for $104
million to a private-equity firm
from California.
The new owner, ASAP Holdings,
had purchased the hotel about
a month ago, but had refused to
specify the purchase price, saying
only that it fell in the range of $100
million to $200 million. Published
property records revealed that the
firm paid $86.5 for the hotel at 102-05
Ditmars Blvd, and another $17 million
for an adjacent vacant lot. The
hotel features 13,000 square feet of
space, including 19 adaptable event
spaces. “This transaction represents
the largest per-room trade
in a NYC submarket in the past 12
months,” said K.C. Patel, Executive
Vice President of JLL, which helped
broker the sale.
In related hotel news, there are
two new hotels being constructed
at JFK next to the Hilton, minutes
away from the terminals.

JFKIAT FIGHTS PIGGYBACKING
Pilot program for SIDA access
Employee access pilot program
There has recently been an increase
in piggybacking incidents.
In an effort to deter such behavior,
JFKIAT will conduct two pilots for
(4) weeks effective March 10, 2021
@10am.
1. Verify access of all employees
accessing the TSA controlled
checkpoint with SIDA badges.
2. Implement an Anti-Piggybacking
access control feature at the
West Employee Turnstiles. Verifying
Access at TDC Employee Lane
5 or 6:
Access to the TSA checkpoint
will require employees to scan their
Port Authority issued SIDA badge
at the card reader and enter their
PIN. A green light indicates access
has been granted.
Employees whose Port Authority
JFK SIDA badge has not been
updated with access to the area,
(red light indication), will not be
granted access a and will require a
visit to the T4 Security Office past
the Chapels to remedy their access
issue.
JFKIAT will deploy an anti-piggybacking
feature within its access
control system to deny access to an
employee who attempts to enter the
turnstiles consecutively within 5
minutes.
All approved escorts will be verified
in coordination with the SIDA
badged employee conducting the escort
and the T4 Security Officer in
coordination with the T4 S.O.C.
