This public, private partnership project sets a gold standard for airport redevelopment
LaGuardia Gateway Partners
(LGP), the private entity
managing and redeveloping La-
Guardia Airport’s Terminal B,
announced the opening of the
second pedestrian Skybridge,
making LaGuardia the first airport
in the world with dual skybridges.
Passengers from both
bridges walk over the aircraft
taxiways and have an awesome
view of airplanes moving to the
runway. The skybridge opened
to passengers on January 28th.
Dozens of VIPs gathered at the
new Skybridge to listen to top
civid leaders praise everyone
involved with the project. There
were many smirks as handfuls
mocked then VP Biden”s words
that LGA was “like some third
world country” in 2014. Not any
more. It has been awarded the
coveted Versailles design award
for the new terminal architecture.
AIRPORT V 8 OICE, FEBRUARY 2022
Spanning 482 feet, the western
skybridge is the final piece
of the interior of the Terminal B
facility to debut and is the last
major construction milestone in
the project. The Terminal B redevelopment
is now over 90%
complete and will reach substantial
completion later this year, on
time and on budget. The Terminal
B project is one of the largest
public-private partnerships in
American history and the largest
in US aviation.
