Who’s got spirit? At Hofstra University, the
cheerleading squad is led by head coach
Christine A. Nowierski-Farina, who takes
lots of pride in her squad. After graduating
from Hofstra University in 1999, Nowierski-
Farina joined the staff as the head coach of the
cheerleading squad. Under her leadership, she
has led the team to making Hofstra history,
winning back-to-back national championship
titles in 2006 and 2007 as well as in 2009-
2011. When she’s not leading the charge for
the cheerleaders at Hofstra University, she’s
running cheerleading camps for the younger
generation to instill the love of cheer into them.
Coach Nowierski-Farina is fully committed to
developing a strong family atmosphere, and will
continually strive to keep Hofstra’s cheerleading
program one of the best in the nation.

The Adelphi University Athletics program
off ers a wide selection of basketball, baseball,
softball, swimming, track and fi eld and bowling
programs to name a few. Their 16 NCAA
Division II National Championship titles, 17
NCAA Division II East Regional titles, four
Northeast-10 Conference Presidents’ Cups and
Countless NCAA Tournament wins distinguish
them from the rest of the competition among
other major college sports programs on the
island. Adelphi’s college sports program is
constantly evoking school spirit in its students,
alumni and other Panther fans who live for
university athletics.

For more than two decades, Jamie Fishlow has
been at the helm of Huntington High School’s
boys and girls varsity tennis programs. As head
varsity coach, he helps every player reach their
potential through hard work and dedication.
His commitment to winning has allowed many
of his players to go all the way–most recently
Jack Flores who won the Suff olk Individual
Title in 2018 under Fishlow’s mentorship as a
sophomore and was also ranked the top seed
that same year. Fishlow constantly works to
ensure his teams can easily contend with the
best of them.
