St. John’s Brings Holiday Joy to Rockaway Youth
St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Hosts Children’s Holiday Party
FAR ROCKAWAY, 2017—Wednesday, December 20, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital hosted a
Children’s Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 20th at the Peninsula Preparatory Academy
Charter School on Beach 19th Street in Far Rockaway.
Children attending the event were able to take
pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, Frosty
the Snowman, and other characters in addition to
having snacks and enjoying music from Ms.
Barbara Fairfax and the Jazz Masters. Children and
their parents were also provided with helpful
information from various community resource
groups, such as Sheltering Arms, St. John’s
Episcopal Hospital, Healthfirst, and National Grid.

free toys that the children were able to take home

“The Children’s Holiday Party is an event that the staff at St. John’s looks forward to planning every
year,” said Gerard Walsh, CEO of St. John’s. “We’re passionate about finding ways to make the Far
Rockaway community a better place, and this party is a great way to spread the holiday spirit.”
St. John’s would like to thank Father Frank, Pastor at St. Mary Star of the Sea, where the school’s
campus is located, for graciously hosting the event, as well as Commanding Officer Captain Vincent
J. Tavalaro and the NYPD officers who assisted in giving out toys. The staff at St. John’s would like to
wish all a happy, healthy holiday season!
