Patient bank robber waits
in line to steal cash
Cops are looking for a note-passing
crook who waited in line to rob a Jamaica
bank.
At 1:31 p.m. on Dec. 21, an unknown
man entered a Capital One Bank, located
at 146-21 Jamaica Ave., and got in line.
When he was fi nally called to the counter,
police said, he presented to the teller a
note demanding cash.
Th e suspect then repeated his demand
verbally and received over $200 in cash,
law enforcement sources said. Th e bandit
exited the bank and fl ed south on Sutphin
Boulevard.
Police described the crook as a heavyset
black man standing 6 feet, 4 inches
tall. He was last seen wearing a white
T-shirt, grey shorts with yellow stripe
going down side, and dark footwear.

Senior man dies after
being hit by car
An 87-year-old man man who was hit
by a car while trying to cross an Ozone
Park street has died of his injuries, police
announced on Dec. 26.
At 6:13 a.m. on Dec. 5, offi cers from
the 106th Precinct responded to a 911
call regarding a pedestrian struck at
Rockaway Boulevard and 108th Street.
Upon their arrival, they found 87-yearold
Jose Alvarado lying in the street with
head and body trauma.
According to information that police
obtained, Alvarado was attempting to
cross Rockaway Boulevard from the
south side to the north side at 108th
Street when he was struck by a 2014
Buick Enclave, which was operated by a
55-year-old male, that was traveling westbound
on Rockaway Boulevard. Th e driver
remained at the scene following the
incident.
EMS responded to the scene and transported
Alvarado to Jamaica Hospital,
where he died of his injuries on Dec. 16.
The NYPD Highway Collision
Investigation Squad is continuing its
inquiry.

Stick-wielding suspects
beat up Flushing man
Police released security camera video
on Dec. 23 of two stick-wielding suspects
involved in a violent assault at a Flushing
home.
Law enforcement sources said the perpetrators
came to a home in the area of
147th Street and Elm Avenue at 6 a.m. on
Dec. 21. One of the suspects is seen on the
video knocking on the front door.
When the 41-year-old male victim
answered, police said, the assailant swung
a stick at the victim and entered the residence.
Th e other attacker followed inside.
Both perpetrators, police said, repeatedly
struck the 41-year-old man about
the body with sticks, then fl ed the scene.
Paramedics brought the victim to
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in serious
but stable condition with multiple
lacerations and bruises.
Police described the suspects as Asian
men wearing dark jackets and jeans.

Slasher attacks club
patron in Elmhurst
Detectives need your help in fi nding
a man who slashed an Elmhurst club
patron in the face earlier this month.
Police said the assault took place at 3:35
a.m. on Dec. 17 inside of Club Amadeus
located at 79-51 Albion Ave., near Queens
Boulevard.
According to law enforcement sources,
the suspect got into an argument with
the 34-year-old male victim, then pulled
out a razor blade and slashed his right
cheek. Th e assailant then fl ed the scene to
parts unknown. Th e victim was treated at
a local hospital.
A wanted fl ier posted on the 110th
Precinct Twitter account described the
suspect as a black or Hispanic man with
medium-length dreadlocks. He is said to
weigh 240 pounds.

Man found hanged from
tree on Christmas Eve
Police are investigating the death of a
57-year-old man who was found hanging
from a tree in Jackson Heights on Dec. 24.
According to the NYPD, a witness
walking by Rory Staunton Field Park at
79th Street at 7 a.m. saw the man hanging
from a tree branch by a rope tied around
his neck. Th e Daily News reported that
the witness, 40-year-old Alex Piedrahita,
said the man was wearing all black and
was covered in a blanket.
Th e park is located across the street
from I.S. 145 and next to Th e Garden
School, a private school that serves nursery
school students through 12th grade.
EMS responded and pronounced him
dead at the scene. Police did not release
the name of the man and the investigation
is ongoing.
Th e medical examiner will determine
the cause of death.
