18th Annual Thanksgiving Distribution
at St. Andrew Avellino
On Wednesday November 27th, St Andrew Avellino Academy in
conjunction with the St Vincent de Paul Society held their 18th
Annual Turkey distribution. With the help of Paul Halvatzis,
turkey committee chairman, over $4000 was raised from local
businesses and families. The money was used to feed over 100
needy families. A good portion of the turkeys and food were
allotted to QSAC, a local non profit that provides services to
autistic individuals. Ms. Debora Hanna, Principal and MaryAnn
Dorsa, school administrators were instrumental in organizing
the distribution. Father Joseph Holcomb was impressed with
how everything went and was very pleased that his parish
could help make a difference. The students of St. Andrews
help by doing a canned goods drive and which provided an
overwhelming amount of food.
