Parade and lightings kick off holidays in Bayside
Rain couldn’t keep hundreds of Bayside
residents from celebrating the holiday
season at the fi ft h-annual Bayside
Children’s Parade and tree/menorah
lighting on Dec. 2.
Co-sponsored by the Bayside Village
Business Improvement District and City
Councilman Paul Vallone, the celebration
began with a march down Bell Boulevard
from 38th to 41st avenues and concluded
with a Christmas tree and Hanukkah
menorah lighting ceremony adjacent to
the Bayside Long Island Rail Road station.
Youngsters from local schools and
scout troops took part in the festivities
along with members of the NYPD
Marching Band. Santa Claus and Mr. Met
also made appearances to put smiles on
the faces of all attending.
