The session will show you how you can increase blood fl ow to your joints and muscles, giving more oxygen to your cells. Participants have to bring their own yoga mat, towel and water bottle, and wear comfortable clothes that will let them stretch. The session runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Register in advance in person or by calling 718-225- 8414. 249-01 Northern Blvd. Sesame Street has parodied popular culture for 45 years and the Museum of the Moving Image is showcasing some of the most memorable parodies as part of its ongoing series celebrating TV personality Jim Henson’s work. “Born to Add,” “Upside Downton Abbey” and “Crumby Pictures” will be among the ones screened at the workshop. Craig Shemin, president of The Jim Henson Legacy, will present the event. Tickets are included with paid Museum admission on a fi rst-come, fi rst-served basis. 2 to 3:30 p.m. Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave. The event will take place again on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. The Queens Library at Woodside is screening “Malefi cent,” the Disney movie that reimagines the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the wicked witch. Angelina Jolie stars as the witch, Malefi cent, while Elle Fanning plays the princess Aurora. The fi lm has been rated PG. The screening is free and will run from 2 to 4 p.m. 54-22 Skillman Ave. The movie will also be screened at the Glen Oaks branch from 3 to 5 p.m. 256- 04 Union Turnpike. SATURDAY, NOV. 29 The Queens Historical Society is hosting New York Council for the Humanities Community Conversations for Kids Workshop. This workshop will deal with issues related to immigration as appropriate for children. Karyn Balan will guide the children and the adults accompanying them through Eve Bunting’s book “One Green Apple.” The book tells the story of Farah, a Muslim girl who feels isolated in her new school in the U.S. till she and her classmates go on a fi eld trip to an apple orchard. Sunnyside Shines BID is hosting an hour-long event to kick off Small Business Saturday, the annual event held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage shoppers to patronize local businesses instead of big box retailers for the holidays. During this kick-off event, businesses and BID members will have free giveaways (while supplies last) and distribute copies of the Shop Local Holiday Gift Guide, which lists 22 local businesses. Registration is not required. 37-44 21st St. The two-day Irish Chocktaw Thanksgiving festival begins 28- 3 today, and the Queens Museum is screening a series of fi lms honoring the two communities. All screenings are free and open to all, no reservations required. The schedule is as follows: 12:30 p.m.: “Chocktaw Code Talkers” tells the story of Choctaw members of the American Expeditionary Forces who used their native language during World War I and set a precedent for code talking. 3 p.m.: “Return to the Sea” follows the trials of a Irish-speaking community on the island of Inish Bofi n. 4:30 p.m.: “A Pearl of Great Price” is a documentary by Irish American Scott Winters about the time he and his three friends went to Haiti after the earthquake to help out. SUNDAY, NOV. 30 The Museum of the Moving Image is screening “Mr. Turner,” a movie directed by British director Mike Leigh and starring Timothy Spall. Leigh will be present at the screening to discuss the fi lm at a live event. “Mr. Turner” tells the story of the eccentric British artist J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) who is now considered to be one of the great British watercolor landscape painters. The event begins at 3 p.m. Tickets: $25/ $15 members at the Film Lover, Dual, and Family levels/free for Silver Screen members and above. Book tickets at movingimage.us. Children can have fun while learning physics at this Little Makers workshop at the New York Hall of Science. The workshop will help participating children build a toy train out of recycled materials. The discussion will see two speakers: Jianguo Zhang, president of the China National Peking Opera Company, Troupe III and performer at the Xi School of Peking Opera; and Ling Yang, a Peking and Kun Opera performer in New York.
