It’s that time of year again. High school
students are beginning to look at their
future and decide which college they want
to go to.
Far-fetched dreams of college on a
beach loom in everyone’s mind, but travelling
to go to school adds even more
fi nancial strain on college. Luckily, a
quality, aff ordable college isn’t far away,
as there are several excellent schools in
Queens.
With two-year and four-year colleges
available, students have no shortage of
options for where to get their college
degree. Here is a rundown of four colleges
in Queens and where to fi nd out
more about them.
LaGuardia Community College
LaGuardia Community College in Long
Island City is a two-year college that has
about 50,000 students enrolled every year.
With 60 majors and 80 programs, LCC
students are 35 percent more likely to
transfer to a four-year college than community
college students nationally.
LCC was ranked fi ft h in a Stanford
University study on colleges with the
highest student-mobility rates in 2017.
Ninety-three percent of LCC graduates
have no student-loan debt at the end of
their two years. LCC also helps thousands
of students get their high school equivalent
diploma in a pioneer program.

Queens College
Founded in 1937, Queens College in
Flushing has been providing education
and growth to students for over 80
years, off ering over 75 academic programs,
internships, and study abroad
programs.
QC was named one of the top 25 public
schools for graphic design in February.
Additionally, 75 percent of QC students
earn their degrees without any student
loan debt. QC has over 100 clubs and participates
in NCAA Division II sports. QC
is also highly committed to maintaining
an environmentally sustainable campus,
appearing in Princeton Review’s Guide to
322 Green Colleges.
Th e college boasts state-of-the-art science
and computer laboratories, a spectacular
music building, and the six-story
Rosenthal Library.

Queensborough
Community College
Queensborough Community College
in Bayside has been committed to providing
an aff ordable, quality education in
a supportive environment for more than
50 years. A key goal of QCC is to make
it possible for students to graduate and
complete academic and professional goals
in a timely manner.
More than half of graduates go on to
four-year colleges, which is 30 percent
higher than the national average.
Fift y-eight percent of QCC faculty hold
doctoral degrees, enforcing QCC’s commitment
to quality education.
QCC also has three well-renowned cultural
resource centers in the Kupferberg
Holocaust Resource Center and Archives,
the QCC Art Gallery and the QCC

Touro College
Touro College was founded in 1970 in
Forest Hills to teach higher education in the
Jewish community. Nearly 50 years later,
Touro serves over 19,000 diverse students
across 30 schools. Touro schools teach
everything from from liberal arts to health
sciences, off ering a wide variety of programs
and majors to meet every student’s needs.
Touro College was ranked number one
in Money Magazine’s colleges that add
