The officials, including Assembly members Nily Rozic, Phil Goldfeder, David Weprin and Mike Miller, saw a video outlining the damage and then took a tour of the restored state-of-the-art facility and saw firsthand some of the work NYFAC is doing. “I’m in this to do whatever we can to help children, to do better for them,” said Andrew Baumann, president and CEO of NYFAC. “This is who we are. This is what we do.” One child in every 68 births in the United States will be put on the autism spectrum, NYFAC said. “We need to make a concerted effort to push legislation to help autistic children,” Goldfeder said. Summer course helps students at Christ the King excel in math For four years now, Christ the King High School has helped its students accelerate in their mathematics education by offering a college credit summer course in pre-calculus. The advanced placement course, taught by faculty member Richard Hartman, is conducted over a six-week period and encompasses over 50 hours of instructional time. Students who successfully complete the course are consequently bumped up directly from algebra II/trigonometry to AP calculus the following year.
