Thinking of Selling Your Home on
Your Own to Save Money?
You may want to think again. As it turns out, FSBOs make less
money on home sales than sellers using an agent.
Some homeowners believe they will make more
money on the sale of their home if they try to sell it
themselves. This is not the case. Sellers that try to sell
on their own, average a significantly lower selling
price than if they used an agent.
According to the National Association of REALTORS®
most recent Home Buyers and Sellers study, agent
assisted home sales sold for $250,000 and FSBO (For
Sale By Owner) homes sold for $190,000. That’s a
24% difference in price, and in our market sellers
could lose thousands of dollars on a transaction
(LI Closed Median Home Sales Price reported by
MLSLI in June 2018 is $455,000).
Don’t risk losing money by going at it alone. Talk
to a real estate professional who knows the market
and can help you sell your home faster and for
more money. Get every advantage you can, use a
REALTOR®.
