Summer fun at Queens’ Night Out
Against Crime — and then a big storm

Before a major thunderstorm spoiled
the celebrations, Queens marked the
National Night Out Against Crime on
Aug. 7 with an array of fun events bringing
cops and the communities they serve
together.
Th ousands gathered all across the
“World’s Borough” at local parks and
plazas for an array of fun activities for
the whole family. Children got to enjoy
free rides and games, and everyone had
the opportunity to take part in free food,
music and entertainment.
New York’s Finest were there all the
way, welcoming everyone to the annual
celebration of police-community relations
and a commitment toward keeping
the borough’s streets safe.
Mayor Bill de Blasio was the guest of
honor at the 102nd Precinct Night Out,
held at Victory Field in Forest Park. Th ere,
he presented a proclamation to Captain
Courtney Nilan, the 102nd Precinct’s
commanding offi cer, and thanked all
members of the NYPD and residents.
