EVERY WEDENSDAY IN AUGUST Socrates Sculpture Park and AT&T host an eight-week fi lm festival that includes dance, food, musical performance and fi lm. This event will provide an opportunity for those in attendance to watch beautiful calligraphy and painting be created before their eyes. Come 15 minutes early to enjoy a bit of traditional Taiwanese puppet theater: “Monkey King vs. Bull King,” which will feature magic and martial arts. This show is comprised of students of the Chinese Association of Long Island and Chinese School for Performing Arts Club and is performed in English. This free annual concert showcases outstanding high school musicians from all fi ve boroughs, and celebrates Louis Armstrong’s birthday. The concert starts at 2 p.m., and is part of the museum’s Summer With Satchmo program schedule. The museum will also feature the Peter & Will Anderson Sextet on Saturday, August 17 at 2 p.m.; tickets are $18. The multi-cultural event includes two days of Dragon Boat Racing, a variety of performances, and a multi-ethnic food court. The event is free and races will be held on Meadow Lake in the park, rain-or-shine. Bring the entire family and have a blast as over 170 teams and more than 2,000 participants compete with each other and celebrate the “Year of the Rabbit.” From 9a.m. until 5p.m. both days.
