The City Parks Foundation announced it will hold free golf lessons in Queens parks from Aug. 3 through 28. The CityParks Golf program, sponsored by the Foundation Lacoste, allows boys and girls from 6 to 17 to learn the game on public golf courses citywide. According to the City Parks Foundation, the program’s goal is to make the sport of golf accessible to all children and help build their selfesteem, discipline and sportsmanship. CityParks Golf is part of the foundation’s 2015 Summer Sports Program, which provides over 14,000 children with free tennis, soccer and track and field instruction at more than 80 locations citywide. The CityParks Golf lessons will take place at the following locations in August: • Alley Pond Park Field 1, Winchester Boulevard and Union Turnpike on Mondays and Wednesdays; • Baisley Pond Park, Foch Boulevard and 155th Street on Tuesdays and Thursdays; • Captain Mario Fajardo Park Field 10, Kissena Boulevard and Booth Memorial Avenue on Mondays and Wednesdays; and • Flushing Meadows Corona Park Field 11, 56th and Corona avenues on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All lessons at each park are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 through 8, and 10:30 a.m. to noon for children ages 9 through 17.
