Molloy Pitcher Nicole Werner paved the way by hurling her third no hitter of the season. The offensive explosion was led by Aine Stephens (3-3 with 3 RBI),Ashley Ulmschneider (3-4, 1 RBI), Taylor Torres(2-3, 1 RBI) and Ashley Atwell (Triple, 2 RBIs). The Stanners, coached by Lou Santos and Chris Zucchi, had previously defeated St. Francis Prep to win the Brooklyn Queens Championship before taking home the NYC crown. St. Margaret/RA Flyers win big at Diocesan meet By ANTHO NY GIU DICE agiudice@qns.com @A_GiudiceReport As the St. Margaret/ Resurrection Ascension Flyers’ season winds down, the boys and girls made sure to put in great performances at their Diocesan meet last week, as the girls team took home second place, and the boys team finished in third place. Senior girl Zara McPartland helped her team’s cause by winning gold in the 800-meter run, while novice boy Kevin Isca won the gold for his performance in the 100-meter. Other gold medalists were junior boy Owen Kelly and novice boy Thomas Fischer for their distance in the long jump. Also contributing to the second- and third-place trophies were silver medalists novice girl Aileen Mitarotonda for her 400- meter run, along with junior boy Kacper Niepokoj and senior boy John Ostling for their great job in the 800-meter run. Bantam girl Mackenize Collin also received a silver medal for her long jump and novice boy Josiah Boulet won the silver in the 100-meter dash. The Flyers’ bronze medalists were junior girl Ella McPartland, senior girl Nina Allen and senior boy Michael Hubert for their 200-meter dash. Also receiving the bronze were novice boy Andrew Kelly for his 100-meter dash, senior boy Nicholas Catapano for his 800-meter run, as well as the 800-meter medley relay team junior boys Elias Mulligan, Stephen Heely, Victor Ostling and Ricky Hubert. The Diocesan team had several other medal recipients and participants, including novice boy Anthony Pedicini and bantam girl Nora Olmo in the 50-meter dash, Alexander Mitarotonda for his 200-meter dash, junior girl Isabella Cedeno and novice boy Robert Larkin in the 100-meter dash, novice boys Gavin Walsh and Conn Reilly ran in the 400- meter dash while bantam boys Sean Walsh and Sean Reilly took part in the 800- meter dash, and Soli Olmo for her performance in the long jump.
