Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the show will start at 8:30 p.m. The No. 1 ‘90s alternative cover band in NYC, Pipe, will be live in Astoria on Saturday night. SUNDAY, JUNE 5 Saint Mary’s Elementary School will be celebrating its 90th anniversary on Sunday. Alumni, staff, current students and faculty are all welcome to join in this great milestone. Witness historian Frampton Tolbert present his Queens Modern project this Sunday at 2:30 pm. Tolbert will be discussing the impact modern architecture has made on the growth and history of Queens while also talking about celebrated and obscure projects in the borough. The Business Center of New Americans will be holding a program called “Accounting and Bookkeeping Rules and Procedures for Small Business Owners.” This program will give tips on how to make fi nancial decisions while owning a small business. It is the melodic world of John Birks Gillespie, the trumpeter from Cheraw, South Carolina, who moved to New York City and lived in Corona, Queens, around the corner from Louis Armstrong. Conducted by NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath, The Queens Jazz Orchestra will pay homage to Dizzy Gillespie, performing his classical compositions.
