Come mingle with other comic enthusiasts from all over Queens and make new friends to share your hobby with. The forum is of course free to attend and the Long Island City branch of the Queens Library can be found at 37-44 21st St. in Long Island City. If you’re a budding teenage writer, you should consider dropping by the Queens Library Peninsula branch’s Teen Writing Club from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Get feedback on your writing and possibly even inspiration from peers, and make friends while you’re at it. There will also be a group writing exercise. The Peninsula branch is located 92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd. in Rockaway Beach. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Rachael Sage and her band The Sequins will be having an album release party this Friday at the Rockwood Music Hall. The celebrated album is titled CHOREOGRAPHIC and is intended to be a tribute to her love of dance. The party will be from 7 to 10 p.m. and admission is $12. Long Island City comedy club The Creek & The Cave presents a $5 comedy show titled Wildcats this Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. The monthly show is comedic skit during which a mock serious event is interrupted by the comedy street gang The Wildcats. During the derailed event, The Wildcats welcome to the stage the night’s featured comedians. This episode features Nick Turner, Jono Zalay and more. SATURDAY, MAY 14 Parents of the 29Q school district are invited by the Community Education Council of 29Q to the Springfi eld Gardens Educational Campus for a 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. workshop titled PRESS, Parental Resources for Education, Skills, and Success. There will also be activities for accompanying children and lunch and snack provided as well. The event is free and the Springfi eld Gardens Educational Campus can be found at 143-10 Springfi eld Blvd. in Springfi eld Gardens. The Maple Grove Cemetery will be hosting an American Revolution encampment this Saturday in commemoration of the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Long Island. The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. encampment will be followed by a 4:30 p.m. concert at the Maple Grove Center. Admission is free, so bring the kids out to learn about the variety of groups and regiments that fought in the Battle of Long Island at what will be the fi rst-ever living history event in Queens. The Maple Grove Cemetery is located at 85-15 Kew Gardens Rd. in Kew Gardens. As part of Queens International 2016, the Queens Museum will be collaborating with Trans-Peco to host a concert series titled becoming New Objects this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30. Featured acts included Despot, Heems, Big Baby Gandhi, Spanish Broads, and DJs Total Freeman and King Solomon, all Queens-based artists. The Sunnyside Business Improvement District will be holding a launch party for the new Shop Sunnyside card, a neighborhoodspecifi c rewards card that gives discounts at local stores in Sunnyside, this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. The party, hosted at Bliss Plaza on 46th St., will offer Shop Sunnyside cards and bags along with activities like a photo booth and a chance to share what you love about Sunnyside. This Saturday on Vernon Boulevard the Long Island City Partnership will host the third annual LIC Springs! community block festival between 50th and 46th avenues.
