ROSEDALE MAN CONVICTED OF KILLING JAMAICA TEN A 24-year-old Rosedale man is now facing at least 25 years in prison after being convicted on May 9 for his role in a 2013 shooting in Jamaica that left a 14-year-old girl dead. After a three-week trial, 24-yearold Kevin McClinton was found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal weapon possession. He faces 25 years to life behind bars, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. The conviction was handed down in the same month of the third anniversary of the May shooting during which a bullet struck 14-year-old D’aja Robinson in the head as she rode inside of an MTA bus, according to the investigation conducted by detectives of the 113th Precinct’s Detective Squad and the Queens Homicide Squad. During the years preceding the trial, McClinton was held without bail following his arrest in and extradition from South Carolina in November 2013. He is due back in court for sentencing on June 8. According to the charges, Robinson left a Sweet 16 party the evening of May 18, 2013, before boarding a Q6 bus routed along Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica. Once she made it to the rear of the occupied bus, prosecutors allege that a second defendant, then-15-year-old Shamel Capers of Brooklyn, began firing at the bus with a handgun before then-21 yearold McClinton took the gun from Capers and also began firing. One of the bullets fired by Mc- Clinton pierced the bus window and struck Robinson in the head. She was then transported to a local Queens hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Capers, apprehended in July 2014, is presently awaiting trial. Wet Basement?
