According to police, both incidents occurred between 1:42 and 1:49 a.m. Saturday morning, March 19, in the vicinity of Harman Street and Woodward Avenue. In the first episode, authorities said, an unidentified Hispanic male approached a 20-year-old woman from behind as she was walking home. The suspect pushed her to the ground, then grabbed her genitalia over her clothing. Seconds later, he ran off without removing any of the victim’s property. Seven minutes later, police noted, the perpetrator struck again, this time accosting a 25-year-old woman from behind and grabbing her neck with his hand. The suspect attempted to put his hands inside the woman’s pants, then removed her purse and fled the area on foot. Both incidents were reported to the 104th Precinct; neither victim was seriously injured. Through an investigation, police obtained the security video below showing the suspect walking in the area of Woodward Avenue. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish speakers, dial 888-57- PISTA), visit www.nypdcrimestoppers. com or send a text message to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. The NYPD later released a security camera image of the suspect who visited the New York Community Bank located on Cross Bay Boulevard near 156th Avenue at 12:59 p.m. on March 28. Authorities said the perpetrator — described as a white male between 25 and 35 years of age, standing 5 foot 6 inches tall who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark tinted glasses and gloves — approached a teller and provided a note demanding cash. Seconds later, the employee provided him with $2,200 in cash; the crook then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Officers from the 106th Precinct responded to the robbery; there were no reported injuries. Anyone with information regarding the heist or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish speakers, dial 888-57-PISTA), visit their website or send a text message to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential. 107th Precinct Briarwood, Flushing, Fresh Meadows Fire marshals hang up on serial crank caller He wasted the Fire Department’s valuable time, so now he’s set to do time. A Briarwood man was arrested this week for allegedly making dozens of phony emergency calls to his apartment building over a two-month period, according to fire marshals. Kenneth Campbell, 47, allegedly made 36 phony reports of gas leaks, electrical fires, bomb scares and medical emergencies to apartments in his building on 135th Street near Hoover Avenue dating back to February of this year. Each call resulted in large responses from the Fire Department and various other agencies including the NYPD and utility companies. Fire marshals, with the assistance of the Queens District Attorney’s office, arrested Campbell as a result of an investigation into the false alarms. He is currently awaiting arraignment on charges of making terroristic threats, falsely reporting an incident and aggravated harassment. “Reporting a false alarm is a senseless crime which deliberately wastes department resources and needlessly puts the lives of New Yorkers and FDNY members at risk,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a statement. “I applaud the investigative work of our Fire Marshals to track down and apprehend the individual responsible for these malicious and dangerous fictitious incidents.” Drunk passenger roughs up cop at JFK Airport Flying out of JFK is often stressful, but this one man was beyond stressed. A Connecticut man was charged this week with felonious assault on a police officer and trespassing in a restricted airport area after he was denied boarding a JetBlue flight, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced. Peter M. Brant, Jr., 22, was allegedly intoxicated on Wednesday when he attempted to board his JetBlue flight at John F. Kennedy Airport but was denied. A Port Authority police officer responded to a call about the disturbance and was informed that Brant was making a phone call in a restricted airport area when he exited the terminal through an emergency exit, sounding the alarm. When the officer pulled Brant back into the terminal, Brant became confrontational and agitated, stating that he was on the phone, didn’t know why he was being denied boarding, and insisting the airline give him a full refund in cash. The officer described Brant as flushed, with slow speech and glazed eyes. Brant said he had three drinks. Prosecutors said Brant resisted arrest, refusing to bend his arm behind his back to resist being handcuffed. Once cuffed, he refused to remain in the terminal seat and attempted to stand and move around, all the while professing his innocence, screaming about the acumen of his lawyers, and vowing to sue the Port Authority officer and other police officers. A crowd gathered, interfering with the terminal’s traffic and operation. Brant allegedly flailed and kicked the officer multiple times. The officer has a contusion to his knee and is at a local Queens hospital for treatment. Brown noted that transit hubs were on high alert due to recent events. “The world is on heightened security alert following this week’s airport and subway tragedies in Brussels,” he said, stressing the importance of traveler cooperation with stricter guidelines for the safety of everyone. Brant was arraigned Thursday and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administrations, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $10,000 and Brant was ordered to return to court on April 19.
