places in Queens where you can enjoy one

Brunch season begins on March 20 with
the arrival of spring. Aft er a long winter
indoors, it’s time to head out across
Queens to some wonderful restaurants
serving the best brunch fare the borough
has to off er.
Here are some great brunch spots with
everything from bottomless mimosas to
quirky spins on traditional breakfast foods.
Jack & Nellie’s, 108-25
Ascan Ave., Forest Hills
If you’re looking for a brunch spot
in Forest Hills, Jack & Nellie’s is popular,
aff ordable and includes six diff erent
types of alcohol. Brunch takes place
on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. French pressed coff ee and several
types of alcohol are available, including
mimosas.
Java Day Cafe, 160-09
Northern Blvd., Flushing
Java Day Cafe serves cheap, delicious
drinks alongside breakfast and brunch,
with most entrees priced under $10. Th e
cafe is very kid-friendly and also off ers
delivery if you want to enjoy the food in
the comfort of your bed.
The Alcove, 41-11 49th
St., Woodside
Looking for cheap drinks and great
meat options? Th e Alcove has eight different
types of drinks available on the
brunch menu for $7 (refi lls are $5). Th eir
meats range from a roast pork shoulder
in their Alcove Cuban Sandwich to their
Skirt Steak Lollipops.
Sugar Freak, 37-11
30th Ave., Astoria
From 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays,
Sugar Freak has a cajun brunch available
with a vintage New Orleans-Creole vibe.
Sugar Freak has a seafood boil available
in which you can choose your seafood,
fl avor, spice level and any add-ons. Th ey
also have diff erent types of eggs Benedict
and other Louisiana gems, including beignet
sliders and hushpuppies.
Fatty’s Cafe, 45-17
28th Ave., Astoria
With artsy decor and a wall made out
of speakers, Fatty’s Cafe has a rare ambience
alongside traditional Dominican
breakfast options. Brunch is Saturday and
Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., $18, and
includes one drink. Fatty’s also has a full
bar!
Julia’s Beer and Wine Bar, 818
Woodward Ave., Ridgewood
Want to enjoy brunch in the middle of
the week instead of the weekend? Julia’s
off ers decent priced brunch made will
local farm-fresh ingredients seven days
a week served until 4 p.m. Th ey also specialize
in New York state wines and beers
if you’d like to indulge during your meal.
White Noise Coff ee Co.,
41-02 162nd St., Flushing
White Noise Coff ee Co. is a coff eehouse
that just so happens to serve great
food and snacks within a clean aesthetic.
Th is place is great for a working breakfast
(they have outlets by tables and a strong
WiFi connection) or just to stop in and
grab a quite bite and coff ee.
Bocaito, 81-15 Northern
Blvd., Jackson Heights
Looking for a very sophisticated
brunch? A cafe and wine bar, Bocaito has
several options to choose from, and they
all include two brunch cocktails and fruit
salad. Th ough upscale, Bocaito also has a
prix-fi xe children’s menu for brunch!
The Ditty, 35-03 Ditmars
Blvd., Astoria
Last but certainly not least, on Saturday
and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. for $35,
you can enjoy any entree and side, twohour
unlimited bloody marys, mimosas
and sangrias at Th e Ditty in Astoria.
Unlimited drinks, great entree and side
choices, and a great atmosphere. What’s
