Flux Factory has a pop-up skating rink produced by Springboard
Collective. Rinkworm has open skating, live performances for three
nights and karaoke. Don’t have any skates of your own? Rinkworm
even offers rentals. Co-directed by Danny Crump, Sarah Dahlinger and
Micah Snyder, Springboard Collective’s mission is to produce interactive
and sculptural environments. This event will be open daily from
Feb. 11 to 17. Donations are accepted.

Every year Flushing hosts a Lunar New Year Parade. The event features
brightly colored floats, steel drummers, firecrackers and dragon dancers.
Starting at 9:30 a.m., the day will begin with coffee and donuts
as a warm-up reception for attendees at the Great Flushing Chamber
of Commerce. Hosted by the Flushing Chinese Business Association
(FCBA) and the Korean American Association of Queens (KAAQ), the
parade will commence at 11 a.m. on Union Street and 37th Avenue in
Flushing.

Stewardship monthly Green
Neighborhood event will be holding
a reforestation event for all
ages. Volunteer will learn how to
remove invasive plants to protect
their community’s forested areas
such as Alley Pond Park. This creates
a healthier ecosystem in Bayside
and teaches participants how to be
more eco-friendly. Volunteers should
dress in clothes that can get dirty
and closed-toed shoes. They are also
encouraged to bring their own water
bottles. Volunteers under 18 must
be accompanied by a chaperone.

feature jade plants and peace lillies.

Be aware that larger crowds will be in

reptile expo has come to
Queens. There are over 150 reptile
breeders with thousands of live pet
reptiles, amphibians and arachnids
this weekend at the Pet Reptile Expo,
the northeast’s largest reptile expo. Pet
owner, avid reptile enthusiast or interested
patron? All are welcome at the
event this weekend. Although personal
animals are prohibited, patrons are
welcome to purchase pets there as
well. Take home a new member of the
family or supplies for your reptile pal.

International Buddhist
Progress Society is holding a traditional
Chinese paper cutting exhibition.
This will feature experienced
paper cutting artist Gao Huilan whose
art has been described as “combining
energetic and clear trends of northern
Chinese cultures with the specific
beauty and ease of Southern China.”
Her work is traditional in its aesthetic
but contemporary in its function.
This meticulous and exacting
art exhibition will be held at New
York’s International Buddhist Progress
Society.
