A local restaurateur is introducing
French cuisine to the Flushing community.
Restaurateur Danny Lye previewed his
new menu with chef Segundo Guaman,
food critics and members of the Greater
Flushing Chamber of Commerce on
Th ursday to kick off the grand opening of
his latest gourmet establishment, Danny’s
French Cuisine.
Lye’s new restaurant — located at 13-46
127th St. in College Point — includes
a new menu that focuses on traditional
French cuisine made from fresh ingredients
and homemade sauces. Everything,
including the desserts, are all made freshly
on the premises.
“I’m proud to introduce authentic
French cuisine to our community with
chef Segundo, who has three decades of
experience at renowned Michelin-rated
bistros in Manhattan,” said Lye. “Chef
Segundo uses only the highest-quality
ingredients and follows the traditional
method of cooking taught to him by
world-renowned French chefs. Our ultimate
goal is to expand the variety and
quality of the international food culture
in the Flushing community and provide
opportunities for more people to learn
about this amazing culinary tradition.”
Lye, 59, is also the owner of Kakurega
Sushi, a high-end Japanese Omakase
restaurant in Downtown Flushing. As a
member of the Greater Flushing Chamber
of Commerce, Lye has organized holiday
dinners for those less fortunate in the
local community.
Lye moved to the U.S. from Malaysia
in 1988 and launched several businesses,
including a point-of-sale company POS
OneStop and Opala Payment System,
which provides secure payment solutions
to help make merchant operations more
eff ective.
Chef Guaman, 40, is originally from
Ecuador. He was executive chef at Le
Gamin and has worked with many
renowned French chefs: chef Jean Michel
Diot at the three-star Michelin-rated
Park Bistro; chef Daniel Boulud of Café
Boulud; chef Philippe Bertineau at Payard
Bistro; and chef Phillpe Schmit at La
Goulue Bistro. Impressed by Segundo
Guaman’s skills, chef Diot helped get him
into French culinary school.
“We congratulate our member, Danny
Lye, on the grand opening of his new
restaurant, Danny’s French Cuisine,” said
Taehoon Kim, president of the Greater
Flushing Chamber of Commerce. “Danny
Lye is an important local entrepreneur
and philanthropist who has organized
several holiday meals for needy members
of our community. We wish Danny
much success and hope that his restaurant
becomes New York City’s destination
of choice for fabulous French cuisine.”
Danny’s French Cuisine is open
Tuesdays to Th ursdays from 4 p.m. to
10:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from
noon to 11 p.m. and Sundays from noon
